Sarah Wright – Attorney Profile

Sarah has devoted her legal career to labor and employment law. After clerking for a Judge in Alaska, Sarah worked as a labor and employment attorney for the Municipality of Anchorage. While serving in that capacity, Sarah strove to help bridge the gap between employees and management on a number of issues. She worked with management when issues arose between management and executive employees, non-represented employees, and represented employees. She also recognizes that sometimes those issues cannot be bridged and action is required on behalf of the employee.

She also served as the primary attorney for discrimination agency complaints filed against the Municipality, often defending management from local, state, and federal agencies. In this capacity, she handled complaints filed under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family Medical Leave Act, and retaliation complaints. Sarah now utilizes her experience in defending those cases to help our clients navigate the intricacies of filing and pursing discrimination agency complaints. In addition to her agency work, Sarah worked on employment litigation cases in state and federal court. She also had experience reviewing internal investigations and weighing in on proposed discipline, which provides her with a valuable perspective on how management should evaluate and administer discipline.

Sarah had the good fortune to travel and live many places before going to law school. Sarah received her undergraduate degrees in Anthropology and Photojournalism. Before law school, Sarah worked as an award winning photojournalist for a newspaper in Ohio. Her experience as a photojournalist provided her with a glimpse into the lives and culture of many individuals within her community. These encounters provide her with an empathetic perspective when working with her clients.

While the natural beauty of Alaska captivated Sarah after law school, it was her family that drew her to Charlotte. The majority of her family lives in the Carolina region and, when she is not working hard for our clients, she enjoys spending time with her family. She can also be found outdoors hiking, cycling, or hanging out on the water. If she is not outdoors, she is likely engaging her more creative side by continuing her photography work and crafting unique jewelry.
